U.S. technology services and outsourcing company Accenture plans to employ some 100 persons in Austria within the next twelve months, the company announced on September 24, 2007. Half of the new workforce will be employed in the consulting division and the other half in software development.

Accenture could sort out the best graduates in the field of IT in Austria, as the labour market was currently "brutal", Accenture Austria CEO Klaus Malle told APA news agency. The Austrian IT market, especially the software for business-critical applications segment, was very strong and Accenture planned to significantly expand its activities there in the medium term. Companies were generally ready to pay more for better risk control, Malle said.

Accenture is also satisfied with the development of its consulting activities in Austria, as the local enterprises' export-oriented business strategies and the high value added achieved by their foreign subsidiaries offered many business opportunities. Accenture's consulting division helps Austrian companies synchronise new subsidiaries in eastern Europe and integrate their IT systems. On the next stage, companies often seek Accenture's services in IT or business process outsourcing.

One fourth of the company's turnover in Austria is generated from consulting services, while system integration accounts for the remainder.

Accenture Austria's target group includes the ten largest companies in each industrial sector as well as medium-sized enterprises. In the near future the company will mainly seek to attract companies in the trade and the manufacturing sector. Accenture employs some 240 persons in Austria and has clients such as Bank Austria Creditanstalt (BA-CA), Erste Bank and cable television and telecommunication service provider UPC Telekabel.
